Can you control your emotions in critical situations?

Reading time:

Welcome,

Today I want to talk a little about emotions. More specifically, let’s discuss how to control them.

This is possible, but only with a lot of practice. It really depends on what kind of person you are. If you are impulsive, or worry often, or are in control of yourself in any situation… It depends.

However, one thing is certain: emotions greatly influence our lives and the moments we experience. And how good it would be if in some situations (critical even, or of utmost importance) we knew how to control ourselves so well that we were successful in what we set out to do.

Here are some examples of times when emotions need to be controlled:

– during the driving test or any important exam;

– when giving a presentation in front of a large audience;

– to negotiations;

– in critical moments at work when you want to win some arguments at conferences;

– in crisis situations (earthquakes, fires, viruses, heavy competitions, etc.);

– when we feel overwhelmed by tasks;

– when we feel bad emotionally but we have things to do;

– and the examples can go on.

Unfortunately, emotions contribute a lot to our mental and physical well-being. I have recently read many studies about the negative effects of stress (or negative thinking) on the cells of our body. Every day billions of cells regenerate in our body and it is important that they regenerate in a healthy way. Studies show that our state of mind, namely the vibrations and frequencies our brain is on, have a significant influence on the cell regeneration process. In short, if you are always stressed, tired, frustrated, tense, negative, etc., you are more quickly exposed to various health problems.

In order to be able to control our emotions, it is necessary to first understand them.

How often have you sat with yourself to look for answers within yourself? vs How often do you look outside for answers? (in everything around you)

There are various methods and practices by which we can acquire this control of emotions, and I want to share with you some sources of inspiration.

The first would be Netflix.

“WTF?”

Yes, Netflix. Neflix can also be used for productive purposes not just for fun. Search for “The HeadSpace Guide to Meditation” on Netflix. It’s a short series with illustrations from which we have a lot to learn about controlling emotions. It is based on the teachings of great Buddhist sages.

I also recommend my article on Stoicism that I recently published on the blog. Stoicism can be a useful practice for controlling emotions. I’m pretty stoic like that.

Of course there are others. In the end, if you are interested in the subject, you will start a research on your own. My advice is to set aside time for yourself at least once a week. During this time you can learn more about yourself by looking both within yourself and for information around you.

By the way, at the beginning of the year I worked a lot on personal and business processes and systems. Much of the work is not visible, but I can’t wait to release the future materials I’m preparing. Until then, we will hear from you on the Facebook group and in future emails.

Today I will go to a lake near Cluj to have fun.

And, as a great personality said, increase the coffee! :)))

Have a nice Sunday!

– Andrei
